This 1984 Rolex Datejust 36, reference 16030, is a stainless-steel automatic Datejust with a silver dial, engine-turned bezel, acrylic Cyclops crystal and Jubilee bracelet. It is powered by Rolex’s quickset Calibre 3035 and is supplied with its inner box and manuals.
Why It’s Special
Reference 16030 is a distinctly transitional Datejust: it pairs Rolex’s quickset Calibre 3035 with the vintage character of an acrylic crystal and engine-turned steel bezel. As one of the last Datejust generations before the sapphire-crystal era, it delivers the classic 36 mm proportions and Jubilee look in an understated all-steel configuration.
Condition
The silver dial presents beautifully, displaying subtle, age-appropriate patina to the luminous plots and hands that adds to its vintage character. The stainless steel case and signature engine-turned bezel exhibit surface wear and evidence of previous polishing, while retaining an attractive overall profile. The Jubilee bracelet and Rolex-signed clasp show age-appropriate wear and stretch consistent with regular use. Overall, a well-presented and highly wearable vintage Datejust with plenty of character.
Performance
Recently tested on a timegrapher at +9 seconds per day. This is a very strong result for a vintage automatic Rolex and well within an appropriate range for regular wear. As with any vintage watch, this is a single snapshot rather than a service record.
