This Omega Seamaster Professional 200M “Pre-Bond”, reference 396.1062, is a stainless-steel quartz sports watch from 1993–1994, powered by Omega calibre 1438.
Why It’s Special
Produced just before the Seamaster Professional’s mid-1990s Bond association, the Pre-Bond is a transitional Omega design with its own collector following. The integrated-bracelet architecture, rotating bezel and Mercedes-style handset give it a distinctly late-1980s-to-early-1990s identity rather than a simple preview of the later model.
Condition
Excellent vintage condition. The original matte-black tritium dial shows warm, even patina with crisp white print and matching hands. The stainless-steel case retains sharp edges with light surface wear, while the bezel insert remains clean and evenly coloured. Bracelet shows minimal stretch and has been ultrasonically cleaned for presentation. The case-back engraving is sharp, and the clasp has been previously polished – resulting in the Omega logo being no longer visible, a common trait for this model and era. Inner and outer boxes show minor interior ageing consistent with vintage Omega packaging.
Performance
Quartz movement functions precisely, with time and date operating as intended. Internal case-back markings suggest a past overhaul, though no supporting documentation is present. The movement’s clean presentation and overall condition indicate careful ownership and regular battery changes.
