A 1973 Omega Genève Automatic powered by the high-beat Calibre 1012 with hacking seconds and quickset date. Reference 166.0163 features a sharp 34.5mm stainless-steel CB case (Central Boites, Swiss case maker) paired with a clean silver sunburst dial and applied indices — a minimalist, everyday expression of 1970s Omega design.
Why It’s Special
The Cal. 1012 was Omega’s final in-house automatic of the classic era — a high-beat 28,800bph movement offering both hacking seconds and quickset date. The original silver sunburst dial is beautifully preserved, giving the watch a crisp, versatile aesthetic that transitions effortlessly from casual to formal wear.
Condition
Very good vintage condition. The original silver sunburst dial remains clean with excellent sheen and crisp printing. The stainless-steel case retains strong factory edges with only light refinishing performed in Japan to soften surface marks. Acrylic crystal is clear, and the Omega-signed crown is present. Fitted to an aftermarket leather strap paired with a genuine Omega buckle.
Performance: Running accurately at around +3 seconds per day — evidence of an overhaul by an independent Japanese watchmaker prior to sale, supported by strong timegrapher results and overall presentation.
