This late-1980s Cartier Panthère Vendôme SM, reference 166920, combines stainless steel and yellow gold in Cartier’s compact quartz jewellery-watch format. Its round Vendôme-style case, Roman-numeral dial, blued hands and integrated Panthère bracelet give the watch a distinctly soft, bracelet-led profile.
Why It’s Special
Cartier’s Panthère family is defined as much by its fluid linked bracelet as by its watch head, and the Vendôme variation brings a rounder, more jewellery-oriented case to that formula. In two-tone Or et Acier, the reference remains particularly versatile: recognisably Cartier, yet less formal than a leather-strapped Tank and less overtly sporty than a Santos.
Condition
Dial appears clean and original with a soft ivory tone, crisp printed Roman numerals, and intact minute track. No visible spotting or moisture damage. Blued steel hands are correct and retain strong colour. Sapphire crystal is clean, with only light surface wear. Stainless steel and yellow-gold case shows light surface scratches consistent with age, with minor softening to edges but no major dents or signs of aggressive polishing. Gold bezel retains a strong tone with light wear to high-contact areas. Case-back engravings remain clear and well defined. Blue cabochon crown is intact. Original Cartier two-tone Panthère bracelet presents well with light stretch consistent with age and remains comfortable on wrist. Clasp functions correctly.
Performance
Quartz movement running correctly. Battery replaced in August 2026.
